It seems like the team has focused on "streamlining" UI/UX (ie "make it more modular"), but functionality has nosedived as a result. Sorry for the rant - I guess I'm disappointed -( Those are the things I'd expect from open source/free software. Or, someone could weite a plugin to download cores from IMSLP. We could have students log into our system and download homework. That Cloud upload would be more than welcome for us iff we could configure the upload/download url. So I have to recompile the application to be able to install it on our School/University Lab computers. The "Home Srceen" (or, more correct the Phone Home Screen) will contact servers ouside of the EU - a big no-go for us (since not DSVGO-compliant). So we end up with yet-another-plugin-format that is, to my knowlege, not documented. In my understanding (I'll shure investigate a bit more) the new sounds are implemented as shared libraries (read: plugins). I'd have no problem with that, except that of course which has total contol over the development of the software has little to no incentitive to support open/free sounds/sound fonts etc. I think we will see (paid) "pemium" content appear on "the Hub" soon. So, to get the improved playback you are required to run a closed source program that installs itself as a background task and runs with full root permissions (why, oh why).Īs I already predicted in a reddit thread quite a while ago MS has become (yet another) piece of "Freemium" software.
